Who We Are
Friends of Music in the Americas (FOMITA) is a US non-profit corporation founded in March 2023 to support the training and education of aspiring young musicians in Latin America. At the present, our activities are focused on supporting the Orquesta Joven del Ecuador (the Youth Orchestra of Ecuador).

Orquesta Joven del Ecuador
Under the direction of its founder, Brazilian cellist and conductor Diego Carneiros, the Orquesta Joven del Ecuador aims to give students of classical music training and performance opportunities in the solo, chamber and symphonic repertoire. Founded in 2016, the orchestra has given more than 100 concerts in venues in Ecuador and many foreign countries, and has sponsored numerous master classes with some of the world’s leading music teachers.
